Police announced today (Tuesday) that they arrested a 75-year-old woman on suspicion of putting glue in the lock of the 'Cafe in the Alley' cafe in Jerusalem last Saturday. In addition, the woman is suspected of spraying graffiti on the cafe's wall and throwing garbage at the site. A court released the woman under conditions prohibiting her from entering the cafe and requiring her to stay at least 30 meters away for 180 days. In recent weeks, the cafe has been at the center of a Haredi protest following the owner Yoel Ben David's decision to operate the establishment on Shabbat. Last Saturday, the cafe's security cameras recorded a woman arriving at the site and spreading glue on the entrance lock. At noon, dozens of Haredi protesters arrived for another demonstration outside the business.
