55-year-old shot and seriously wounded - connection to assassination of mafia boss Yushvayev being examined
A 55-year-old man was shot in Or Akiva and seriously wounded. Police are examining a possible connection to the assassination of Caucasian mafia boss Yanis Yushvayev, who was shot dead on Sunday at a gas station near Caesarea. Last night, two suspects were arrested in connection with the murder, including one who helped hide the assassin.
A 55-year-old man was shot today in Or Akiva and seriously wounded. Medics and paramedics from Magen David Adom evacuated him to Hillel Yaffe Hospital conscious and suffering from penetrating wounds to his body. Police have opened an investigation and are examining, among other things, whether the incident is related to criminal tensions in the area following the assassination of Caucasian mafia boss Yanis Yushvayev. Yushvayev (45), from Or Akiva, married and father of three, was eliminated on Sunday in a point-blank shooting at a gas station near Caesarea. He was evacuated in critical condition to Hillel Yaffe Hospital, where his death was determined. Yushvayev was for years one of the most prominent and dangerous intelligence targets of the Hadera police and the Coastal District's central unit, and was arrested many times on suspicion of involvement in throwing fragmentation grenades, shooting at homes, and setting vehicles on fire - but in most cases the investigations did not lead to an indictment. Last night, a breakthrough in the investigation occurred: at the end of a manhunt, Yamam special forces raided a warehouse in Hadera and arrested two suspects in connection with the murder. According to the suspicion, alongside the main suspect, another person who provided him with a hiding place was arrested. The deployment of Yamam forces in a criminal arrest is considered an unusual step indicating the complexity of the case. Police fear that the elimination of a senior target like Yushvayev could destabilize the criminal underworld in the Sharon region.
