4 years in prison for northern resident - charge: transferred funds to Hamas

The Central District Court sentenced Suhil Bashir from Sakhnin to 4 years in prison after he confessed and was convicted of transferring over 650,000 shekels to Judea and Samaria, intended to finance Hamas terror infrastructure. The judge ruled that Bashir turned a blind eye to the fact that the money was intended for terrorism, emphasizing the severity of the acts committed after October 7.

The Central District Court sentenced Suhil Bashir (38) from Sakhnin to 4 years in prison after he confessed and was convicted in a plea deal for transferring funds from Israel to Judea and Samaria, intended to help finance terror offenses. Bashir, an Israeli citizen, transferred over 650,000 shekels, along with 5 other defendants from the north who transferred over 3.5 million shekels, to recruit military infrastructure for Hamas in Judea and Samaria. The transfers were carried out under the direction of Wajdi Saadi, a former security prisoner from Jenin who moved to Turkey in 2016 and began operating for Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Judge Michal Barak-Nevo ruled that Bashir, intelligent and educated, turned a blind eye to the fact that the money was intended for terrorism, emphasizing that the acts were committed during wartime, not long after October 7. In addition to the prison sentence, Bashir was ordered to pay 200,000 shekels in financial penalties. Other defendants in the case received lengthy prison sentences, including Fadi Araby who received 70 months in prison and a 400,000 shekel fine, and Muhammad Hatzitz who received 6.5 years in prison.
