4 years in prison for Border Police fighter who transferred Arabs through checkpoint – without inspection
The court sentenced David Malul, a Border Police fighter convicted of bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and arms trafficking, to four years in prison. Malul admitted to receiving about 25,000 shekels for allowing Palestinians to pass without inspection at the Ras Bidu checkpoint, and sold two police stun grenades. Three additional Border Police officers were convicted in the case.
The court sentenced David Malul, a Border Police fighter convicted of bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and arms trafficking, to four years in prison. Malul admitted to receiving about 25,000 shekels for allowing Palestinians to pass without inspection at the Ras Bidu checkpoint, and also sold two police stun grenades to a Palestinian. According to the indictment, during his service at the checkpoint, Malul established contact with Palestinians and agreed to allow area residents who did not have permits to pass without inspection in exchange for payment. In the sentencing, the court noted that Malul acted "with full awareness of the security risk to the State of Israel and its residents, and with contempt and indifference to the risk he caused by his actions." The court further emphasized that "the defendant did not stop his actions even after a deadly attack occurred at the Ramot junction in September 2025, despite his fear that he had enabled the attackers to pass through the checkpoint." Alongside Malul, three additional Border Police officers were convicted in the case, and their sentencing will be given later.
