32 patients and 50 escorts leave via Rafah crossing
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced that 32 patients and 50 escorts left via the Rafah land crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, as part of medical evacuation efforts in cooperation with the World Health Organization. Ambulance crews transported the patients, and the organization managed the evacuation in coordination with relevant authorities, amid a worsening health crisis and a severe shortage of supplies and medicines.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced on Tuesday that 32 patients and 50 of their escorts left via the Rafah land crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, as part of medical evacuation efforts carried out in cooperation with the World Health Organization. The Society said its ambulance crews transported the patients and accompanied them during the evacuation journey, as part of humanitarian efforts aimed at enabling patients to access treatment outside the Strip, amid the continued deterioration of health and humanitarian conditions. It added that the World Health Organization managed and supervised the evacuation process, along with coordination with relevant authorities to complete travel procedures for patients and their escorts through the Rafah crossing. Medical evacuations continue for cases requiring specialized health care not available in Gaza Strip hospitals, amid a worsening health crisis suffered by the medical system due to the severe shortage of capabilities, medicines, and medical supplies, in addition to the increasing pressure on health facilities.
