300 pizzas and threats: police catch a strange fraudster

A major scandal has erupted in the Polish city of Szczecin: a 23-year-old local resident spent eight months ordering hundreds of pizzas under other people's names and addresses, using real personal data of strangers. The victims included not only ordinary residents but also celebrities — TV presenter Hubert Urbański and musician Maciej Malenczuk. The perpetrator placed about 300 fake deliveries at pizzerias in Szczecin, Warsaw, and Krakow. Order amounts ranged from 100–150 zlotys to a record 37,000 zlotys. In addition to the orders, the fraudster left frightening messages in the comments, threatening arson, intentional car accidents, breaking windows, and kidnapping children. The investigation confirmed at least five episodes of psychological pressure. Affected restaurateurs conducted their own investigation and handed over evidence to the police. Officers from the Central Cybercrime Bureau arrested the suspect at his home. He refused to admit guilt, has been arrested, but may be released on bail of 10,000 zlotys. He faces up to eight years in prison for fraud and threats.
