11 Illegal Residents Found Hiding in a Pit at a Construction Site in Kiryat Ata

Police located 11 illegal residents, Palestinian Authority residents, who were hiding in a pit at a construction site in Kiryat Ata. They were arrested on suspicion of staying and working in Israel illegally, and their detention was extended until August 10.

Police located 11 illegal residents, residents of the Palestinian Authority, who were hiding in a pit dug at a construction site in Kiryat Ata. The officers, as part of a proactive operation by the Asher district in the Coastal Division to locate illegal residents, arrived at the construction site in the city. During the searches, they noticed a pit and inside it the suspects were found, who according to the police were sleeping and working at the site. All suspects were arrested and taken for questioning at the police station, and were subsequently imprisoned. The court granted the police's request and extended their detention until August 10, in accordance with the needs and findings of the investigation. The police stated that operations against illegal residents are ongoing, partly due to concerns that some of them may also be involved in security incidents, in addition to the offense of staying in Israel in violation of the Entry into Israel Law.
